World population and food supply - Are we running out of resources?

Is The Era Of Cheap Food Ending? | Gizmodo Australia.

With the ever increasing population and dwindling resources such as oil and farmland, are we close to the begining of the end?

It is predicted that our food production will need to increase by 50% in the next 20 years to accomodate the population growth predicted.

We are already experimenting with genetically modified food, so how far will this have to go to make up for the increasing demand on food resoucres?

With plenty of rights activists fighting against large scale farming of animals due to the inhumane way most of these productions must operate, do we have a choice?

The above link from Gizmodo as well as the links in that have some very interesting reports and information on this paradox of human growth. I hope you enjoy reading and hopefully we can all consider this when we stuff our faces full of food lol

What size are you? The broadband "T-shirt" guide - Internode 1TB ADSL2+ Plan

Internode have released a new range of plans marketed as "T-shirt" sizes. From a S at 150Gb allowance for $59.95/month right up to the mega XXL with 1TB yes 1000Gb's! of data allowance for $129.95/month (or $119.95 bundled with a nodeline).

I have said this before and will put it in writing, you may find cheaper but you will not find better.

In my opinion after 17+ years of using the internet from it's early days right through to the new ADSL2+ and Annex M, Internode are the best network and customer support bar none.

Pick up the phone to speak to a local real human who will greet you with a "G'Day mate" most of the time. They will be more than helpful with your problems and queries. (and if you sign up put norgan in the campaign code ;)

Internode :: Residential :: Broadband :: ADSL :: Easy Broadband.

Please support childsplay charity - I do..

www.childsplaycharity.org. is a great initiative that provides gaming consoles and games to il children while they are stuck in hospital.

I think it's a fantastic initiative and a great way to help ease the pain of being stuck in hospital and in pain. No child deserves to live through the pain and discomfort of serious illness.

As you can see below this great charity has helped so many children form all over the globe, including here locally in Australia.

If you can afford a few bucks then please consider helping this great charity out and think about your children or children you know who may have, are or end up in hospital at some point and how much this can ease the discomfort associated with such a sad thing.

Boeing to Offer Rides Into Orbit by 2015 | Autopia | Wired.com.

There is a lot of talk (relitively) about the possibility of travel to space. There are already offers on sites like adrenalin.com.au to fly to the egde of space or sign up for an orbital space flight to the ISS.

But now boeing have released a press release about thier plans to make flights ot space viable for commercial sale on a regular basis.

The flights will be aboard the Boeing Crew Space Transportation-100 spacecraft and take you into low orbit. Flights will also be made available to companies and other agencies.

Where are my smartphone apps?!

So it seems every man and his dog is making an iPhone app for anything from how to scratch your butt to actual usefull stuff like transport timetables etc.
My question is, why is everyone making iPhone apps for what is literally one of not the youngest smartphone operating systems, not even close to majority market share at my last count.
Nokia's Symbion OS, Microsoft Windows Mobile, and WebOS from Palm have been out for many many years longer then the iOS on iPhone yet it seems that it is absolutely ok to just ignore these other smartphones that have at least up until recently dominated the smartphone market share.
Are Apple paying developers to make these apps? Where is my windows mobile app for each iPhone app that is made? Where are the Nokia apps?
Quite frankly i am sick of waiting for app developers to provide apps for my windows mobile phone and i am unsure of just who to blame. Is it the sheeple blindly buying and downloading iPhone's and apps or is it the developers for being lazy, or is it Apples fault for driving out other platforms by either paying or incentising the development of apps for thier platforms?
Is it just me or are there other smartphone users just as frustrated at the lack of support for thier much more established platforms?
Is it Dominos or Cityrail's fault for just ignoring us as smartphone users with the same needs as iPhone users?

Please comment below and let me know what you think and if you find the same frustrations as i....

Three White Rabbits - New shopping experience

Three White Rabbits. I wouldn't normally advertise like this but i did after all put this site together and thought i might show off my latest work lol

Android on HTC HD2 - Success

The FroyoStone Series is running on my HD2 right now, so far i must say it is a success. The development of the lunix kernel for HD2 has matured very nicely after some initial hurdles.

If you want a phone and want a choice of what to run on that phone then in my opinion this is the way to go. Windows Mobile today, Android tomorrow, Ubuntoo on the Weekend.

Now that's what i call versatile!

Labour to form a minority government with Support from Rob Oakeshott and Tony Windsor

Live from sky news feed press conference in Canberra, both Mr Windsor and Mr Oakeshott have confirmed their support for a labour minority government. Some key points from Mr Oakeshott were "corruption" and "misstrust" in the Liberal party.

Personally I think this is the better choice of two very difficult possibilities. The recent work on some very key policy and promises made to the independents will show that this government will hopefully acheive some good results.

Now for the 15 minutes of fame to fizzle out for the three amigos and focus to start on real policy and politics.

Interesting times in a modern government and difficult times.

Windsor "Coolition would run to the polls as soon as possible"

Oakeshot "agreement on confidence and supply"

Sky news "Gillard to hold press conference at 4.15pm AEST on Sky News"

Windsor "This is a matter of longevity"

Oakeshot "This is an ungly government but it will be beautiful in it's uglyness" in relation to a more functional government

And the winner is..............Labour?!

Live on Sky news, Tony Windsor has announced his support for the Labour party while Rob Oakshot is up speaking to the press now.

He is speaking of  "the two of us" speaking of himself and Tony Windsor. He has yet to clearly announce his support but the feeling is he is backing labour with Mr Windsor.

The indication of Katter coming out alone also points to this. More to come very shortly!

Katter splits from Independents ahead of announcement | News.com.au

Katter splits from Independents ahead of announcement | News.com.au.

one vote for Labour one for Liberals, most interesting to see who the last independent will choose.

The bottom line is this is a wakeup call to the Australian parliament that we want good policy and active action not popularity and indecisiveness.

Same Sex Adpotion one step closer in Australia

Last night a bill got through NSW parlaments lower house with teh slightest of margins. the Difference was 3 votes and the bill still needs to be passed through the upper house but it's a good sign of a more progressive way of thinking.

Let's just hope this is a sign of a federal progression in thinking and hopefully extends to same sex marriage as well.

The NSW government is a labour government, Julia Gillard federally is now also closer to a minority government with only 2 seats required to form government.

All signs point to this coming Monday being the day for a descision to be made, an interesting time in Australian Politics that's for sure.

The Liberal Black Hole - Where is the $11b you need to put your policies in?

Joe Hockey stands by Coalition costings | News.com.au.

As you can see by the above article it is becoming clear that there are large gaping holes in the Liberals policies, if you can call them policies.

The $7-11b hole I think shows why Abbott was so hesitant to submit to treasury. With around $3.3b of cut projects that also have yet to be stipulated the story becomes more darkened.

It will be very interesting to see the story that will be provided by Mr Hockey and Mr Abbott to try and explain where this money is supposed to come from.

In other news the Greens have affirmed thier support for Labour this week and the Labour image is looking slightly better.

The hung election is becoming even more interesting as the days pass.

Australia's Growth - 3.3% Anually during global financial crisis

Australia has reported a quarterly growth of 1.1% factoring to a 3.3% annual growth figure.

All this in the midst of a global crisis, some report this has nothing to do with Labours stimulus but I think it's quite obvious that it is a combination of the past regulation put into our banking systems and the stimulus that helped keep retail consumer confidence up.

A good sign either way of a strong economy.
