EFA » How you shaped the Election

EFA » How you shaped the Election.

So there was a huge swing to the Greens during the last election. Considering the main points aside from the Climate debate they brought up was around the mandatory internet filter, do we take this as a resounding no for the filter?

The above EFA article explains further.

Dry water? well no really, more like water droplets trapped within sand particles. Kinda cool and useful for soaking up gasses. The Gizmodo story continues the explaination above.

Microsoft To Pay More Than Half A Billion Dollars To Jump-Start Windows Phone 7

Microsoft To Pay More Than Half A Billion Dollars To Jump-Start Windows Phone 7.

With Windows Phone 7 nearing release and some very nice looking hardware to match, I guess it's to be expected that M$ are spending hueg amounts on marketing it, especiallly since this is the last ditch effort to make Windows mobile platform successful.

Personally i love windows mobile but i do admit a lot of work needs to be done both technically and in marketing to make it a success. Guess we'll just ahve to wait and see, until then the above article proves interesting reading.

2010 Australian Federal Election - Do we as a nation still have a clue whats good for us?

Virtual Tally Room.

So personally I will choose my rights as a worker and good broadband policy over just about anything else, I also chose to support same sex marriages, womens rights to a safe and stress free abortion, as well as some other good policies i believe will not only benefit me but others who deserve the right to free choice and no discrimination for that choice.

IMHO vote anyone but liberals lol

btw Abbotts speach about the only indigenous  member in the senate was a cheap shot at last minute support. We all have a lot to answer for for not allowing more of the indigenous voices to be heard, there is a lot of suffering going on in this country and an apology is a start (thanks Rudd for having the balls) but we all need to think differently and try more to understand not just indigenous peoples but all peoples in this great country of ours needing help and support.

A fundamental shift in our thinking and the way we conduct our politics is long needed......will it ever happen...who knows, will YOU make a change?

Why the iPad is nothing speacial and why you should look around for choice

that's right, you do have choice, and most of the time the choices are much better.

In a nice little demonstration of the availibility of choice I have embeded a youtube clip showing a Windows 7 Tablet against an iPad.

A very interesting debate demonstrating some of the incompitence and rare good ideas from each party around high speed internet access in Australia.

EFA » Is the filter truly dead?

EFA » Is the filter truly dead?.

Thanks in part to the EFA's efforts along with the many people who signed and helped spread awareness of the anti firewall petition, it looks like we may be very close to a confident lack of internet firewall.

This is very good news for freedom to information and allows us all to make our own minds up on what we wish to see and expose ourselves to.

If your a parent and want to help protect your children online here are some handy tips that will prove more usefull and less expensive than a national mandatory firewall:-

1. Install a product such as TrendMicro's Internet Security, this will not only protect you from web based threats such as hackers and viruses but it also contains parental controls and web filtering to help you block out  any unwanted viewing for your kids. to top it all off a single purchase of this particular product will allow you to install to 3 computers so your family PC, laptop and another computer are all proctected. www.trendmicro.com for more info.

2. Limit and monitor the time your kids spend online, if they are on messaging services try to interact and establish who they are talking to. With some basic understanding you will gain confidence that your kid is only talking to friends of thier age and help them be more aware of anyone that may have alterior motives.

3. Some ISP's have a opt in filter where you can choose to have your web access filtered, enquire with your ISP for availibility.

With some basic common sense and an understanding of your childs internet habits along with a healthy sharing of those activities you will hopefully find yourself in a situartion where you are able to talk freely about your childs activities on the net as well as being able to provide them with some good advice as to how to identify those who may be up to no good.

Garbage Dam - 3 Gorges China

HTC Schubert - Windows Phone 7 anyone?

Below is a video of what is being speculated to be HTC's Windows Phone 7 device.

There is a lot of talk around this new phone o/s and I for one am keen to see it on a real device. Thanks to 247windowsphone.com we have a tantalising video of what may be one of the first Windows Phone 7 devices.

One thing i am a little sceptical of is that HTC have already announced Sense will be supported on Windows Phone 7, so why does a HTC video clip show a phone with no HTC Sense? Perhaps they think the wp7 Metro interface is nice enough, or perhaps the video is not a real HTC video, you be the judge. Either way the Windows Phone 7 launch looks to be generating quite a bit of excitment and as we draw closer i am sure we will see many more interesting "leaks".

Did Apple Know About The iPhone 4 Antenna Bug Two YEARS Ago? | Gizmodo Australia.

Shame Apple, look people you really need to see what is going on here. Marketing hype and over promised hardware is being shoved out for sales and as a result good technology is being left behind and progress is slowed.

Please be aware consumers and do your research, research is looking at expert reviewsd and technical specs not askign a couple of mates what they think (unless they are experts in the field lol).

We as consumers have the choice to buy good technology or crappy gimmicks, i knwo what i choose how about you??

WakeUp Sydney : See(d) a new dream

WakeUp Sydney : See(d) a new dream.

So you may have heard of Pay it Forward, or Opras Angels. WakeUp Sydney have a similar thing going where you may join and log into thier site and order random acts of kindness cards.

The idea is that you do something nice for someone, leave the card behind and let them find what you have done and the card. They get a nice surprise for the day and hopefully they do something similar for someone else.

We need more of this around in my opinion, please help raise awareness for these kinds of causes by signing up to WakeUp Sydney and ordering your cards.
